Coronavirus in Peru: Jorge Chavez Airport will be monitored for suspicious cases

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) will report on the preventive measures to travelers traveling through the facilities of Jorge Chavez International Airport and will show with SAMU ambulances for the transfer of suspected cases of coronavirus.

Also, spokespersons from different institutions involved with this issue will explain about the Alert Plan 5 that is used at the airport in the presence of any eventuality, as well as about the procedure and the actions that are carried out in case of detecting a person with the illness.

It should be remembered that on Monday, January 27, a group of workers and the translator went to the facilities of the Casimiro Ulloa Hospital, to undergo the corresponding medical tests and exams, to rule out the possibility of being infected with coronaviruses.

To rule out suspicions, the three Chinese employees of the Chinese company Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and their Peruvian translator are in the Dos de Mayo Hospital, to rule out that they are infected with the coronavirus. They arrived in Peru from the city of Wuhan, in China, where the respiratory virus appeared.

It was the health minister, Elizabeth Hinostroza, who reported this afternoon that four suspected cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Lima, so the established protocol and epidemiological surveillance had been initiated. So the four people will undergo molecular analysis tests to confirm or rule out if they have the virus. The results will be known in three days.

Symptoms ahead of time

Chinese health minister Ma Xiaowei confirmed that the coronavirus is contagious even before showing symptoms. The Chinese Government has recognized the limited knowledge of the virus and said the virus’s ability to spread is strengthening.

The incubation period, during which a person has the disease but still has no symptoms, moves between 2 and 14 days, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Also, he added that this could greatly hinder control work to prevent the spread of the virus.
