The Peruvian film nominated for a BAFTA will be available on the Netflix streaming platform from July 29.
Within the premieres of this month on Netflix, there is one requested by Peruvian moviegoers since its commercial premiere. Retablo would be arriving at the streaming service on July 29. A new alternative to celebrate Peruvian national holidays.
The film tells the story of Segundo Paucar, a 14-year-old boy from rural Peru who wants to become a storybox designer like his father to continue the family’s legacy.
The directorial debut of director Alvaro Delgado Aparicio won several accolades by the international press, as well as awards at different film festivals such as the Chicago International Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, where he won a special mention in the category of Best Film, and the Teddy Award for the Best First Feature Film.
Undoubtedly, the best news would come in January of this year from the United Kingdom, where it was announced that the film would have been nominated for a BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer; category in which the director was able to participate in due to his British nationality.
The film stars Junior Bejar, who plays Segundo Paucar, Amiel Cayo, and Magaly Solier, from whom the idea of making the film in Quechua was born.
The film will be available on Netflix from July 29.
