Coronavirus: the point of no return where «everyone would get infected»

The coronavirus will not stop spreading until it infects everyone. Infection experts point out that we are at the point of no return. This week the world has reached 10 million infected people and the deceased is close to 500,000.

According to what the experts mention, this has not yet reached the maximum point, since «the worst is yet to come.» Once the virus spread in the South American continent, with fewer resources to combat it, it would give rise to an incessant wave of massive infections.

However, even countries like the United States with serious health and economic problems would suppose that the figures would be this new normal. One that puts life at risk as we knew it until the beginning of the year.

Peter Collignon, professor of microbiology at the National University of Australia, assures that the number of infected people is relatively small, which presupposes a future risk, since they may increase in the coming days, months and years, so considerable.

It does not stop

Another big problem to consider is the ability of the virus to spread. Even countries in the northern hemisphere maintain their problems to control it.

«These viruses would normally be expected to spread more in winter, but we have seen that they can also spread easily in summer,» says Collignon. «So that’s clearly a big problem.»

The new normality in South America

It should be noted that Latin America has become the new epicenter of the epidemic, locating itself mainly in Brazil with a sustained and rising number of infected people who have already claimed the lives of 62,045 people.

In Peru, the figures are increasing and without the possibility of identifying whether or not there is a possible regrowth, because the first wave has not yet shown signs of improvement. A total of 295,599 confirmed cases.
