Preventive prison for Nadine Heredia evaluated

The Judicial Power arranged a hearing to evaluate the case of the former first lady Nadine Heredia, whose request demands that she be given 36 months of preventive detention, together with Luis Castilla and Eleodoro Mayorga, this appointment will be scheduled for July 23, this as part of the investigations for the alleged crimes committed in the tender for the Gaseoducto Sur Peruano project to the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht.

Said request was made by the Lava Jato special team, for which reason the Specialized Penal Court informed that the Second Anticorruption Preparatory Investigation Court, in charge of magistrate Juan Carlos Sánchez Balbuena, will be made from 10 am.

Recall that on March 11 of this year, the Lava Jato Special Team confirmed that one of its members (Geovana Mori) requested preventive detention against the three investigated for offering favors to the Brazilian company in exchange for the concession of the South Peruvian gas pipeline project.

The investigations indicate that Heredia allegedly provided work as a de facto official to favor the Brazilian company, so coordinating meetings and attending various meetings with Odebrecht representatives to expedite the process. Likewise, Luis Castilla, former Minister of Economy and Finance; Eleodoro Mayorga, who was Minister of Energy and Mines, would have promoted conditions for the transnational company to win competitions to carry out the project.

Geovana Mori agreed to include, the testimonies of people to endorse that Nadine Heredia had direct contact with the coordination that was carried out with the highest authorities of the Executive to expedite the gas pipeline process and be carried out by the Odebrecht company.
