Wanted to suspend Fuerza Popular

The prosecutor of the Lava Jato Special Team, José Domingo Pérez, asked the fourth national preparatory investigative court, Victor Zuñiga, to temporarily suspend the political activities of Keiko Fujimori’s Fuerza Popular party for a period of two and a half years.

This request corresponds to the investigations that are being carried out to its leader (Keiko Fujimori) on the contributions of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, during her political campaign in the previous presidential elections.

In the letter presented by the prosecutor José Domingo Pérez, it can be seen: ‘In accordance with the provisions of article 113 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in accordance with subsection 1, letter c, article 23 of Law No. 30077-Law of Organized Crime, the special team of prosecutors who advocate exclusive dedication to the investigation of investigations related to corruption crimes of officials and related, in which the company Odebrecht and others would have incurred, the first office requests before its respectable office, use to provide temporary suspension of political activities for a period of two and a half years. ‘

If this request is approved at the next hearing, the political party of Alberto Fujimori’s daughter will be excluded from participating in the next presidential elections in 2021 (the bicentennial year). The prosecutor also investigates the political group for the alleged crime of money laundering.

It should be noted that a few days ago the news was released that Keiko Fujimori would be the only candidate for the internal elections of her party, a fact that has generated controversy in the climate of opinion, since the Congress of the Republic is evaluating the approval of political reforms, which establish that a person convicted of intentional crimes cannot apply for public office elections.
