Overall, the number of new subscribers to Netflix worldwide has doubled in just the first quarter of this year, surpassing last year’s total by 16,000 subscribers. Thus, Netflix has become the leader in online streaming, along with Prime Video and given the demand, Disney+ and Apple TV+ are now looking to take advantage of this change in the market to increase their subscribers.

In eight months from the start of its launch, Disney+ reported 60.5 million subscribers on Tuesday, August 4, growth not predicted by the company since it was projected to reach that figure in 5 years after its launch. Their normal rate was a million a month in April, May and June.

It is believed that the new wave of subscribers could have been due to the Broadway musical Hamilton, which hit the platform on July 3 and has since recruited 3 million subscribers within 5 weeks of its premiere.
