Baskonia proclaimed champions of the ENDESA League 2019-2020

After know about the critical situation due to the Coronavirus, the meeting that would define the champion was called the Exceptional Final Phase, which faced two of the best teams at the season: Baskonia and Barcelona. The latest one came as a favorite, having spent on a competitive and star-studded squad.

The outcome of the League had to be postponed due to the new pandemic, which affected and continues to affect everyone. However, after a time it could conclude with Baskonia’s victory (69) over Barcelona (67). In the previous one, the Catalan team showed itself with the best attack in the league, commanded by Mirotic, Tomic, and Davies; while the people of Vitoria registered the best defense, thanks to Henry, Shengelia, and Polonara.

By the third quarter, Baskonia would regain the advantage and tie the scoreboard, which would favor them at the end of the game, with a 2-point advantage, enough to achieve the title after 10 years. FC Barcelona and former NBA star Nikola Mirotic was sent to showers 5 minutes before the end due to excessive fouls. After the final result was known, Ante Tomic said goodbye to the Blaugrana fans after 8 consecutive seasons.

The referees designated for this meeting were Andalusians Antonio Conde, Daniel Hierrezuelo, and aragonese Carlos Peruga, who have extensive experience in leading important games.
