Following the resignation of Evelyn Roxana Villanueva Reymundo from the Lava Jato special team, Tessy Huarcaya Vilcara was assigned as the new member of the special team investigating the Odebrecht case, the prosecutor of the Zoraida Avalos Nation appointed Huarcaya as Provisional Provincial Deputy Prosecutor, appointing him the office of the Corporate Supraprovicional Prosecutor’s Office Specializing in Crimes of Corruption of Officials.
In this sense, the lawyer will be part of the Special Team of Prosecutors that will be dedicated to cases of corruption of officials related to the Odebrecht company, among others. Said mention is a resolution published in the Legal Norms bulletin of the Official Gazette «El Peruano», which bears the heading of the head of the Public Ministry, Zoraida Ávalos.
On the other hand, the resignation of the then member of the Lava Jato special team, Villanueva Reymundo, who also fulfilled the functions of Provisional Provincial Deputy Prosecutor of the Lima Fiscal District, was accepted. In this way, the newly incorporated Huarcaya Vilcara will fulfill its functions (according to the resolution) until December 31, 2020.
As for the investigations of the special team of the coordinating prosecutor Rafael Vela, it was mentioned that the case of the leader of Fuerza Popular Keiko Fujimori is «quite mature», while the case of former President Alejandro Toledo Manrique (who faces an extradition of the United States for the «Interoceanic» case) expects to have the list of accusations before September.
