Rafael Vela demands respect for autonomy

Rafael Vela, coordinator of the Lava Jato Special Team, spoke with channel N about the institutional changes that involve the Supreme Prosecutors Board, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) and the Academy of Magistrates, in which he referred to the importance that the sanction process against the investigated (Pedro Chávarry and Tomas Galvez).

In the framework of the investigations into the supreme prosecutors Pedro Chavarry and Tomas Galvez, who are investigated as alleged members of the criminal organization Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto, in this sense the coordinating prosecutor mentioned that the National Board of Justice (JNJ) analyzed the proposal to preventively suspend Pedro Chavarry from his duties.

Rafael Vela asked that their «autonomy as prosecutors» be respected, and mentioned that they suffer constant grievances from supreme prosecutors, who seek to «undermine the bases of the agreements made» by the investigations carried out in the Lava Jato case. It should be noted that the Special Team of the MP (Public Ministry) asked the JNJ (National Board of Justice) to pronounce on the corrective measures that are carried out with the supreme prosecutors and judges, by the investigations of “Los Collars Blancos of the port».

In this sense, Rafael Vela mentioned: «We express our conviction of a pronouncement by the National Board of Justice (JNJ), on the disciplinary investigations carried out against the prosecutors and supreme union judges as members of the alleged organization ‘The White Necks’.
